CPA section 43

The section of the Ontario Consumer Protection Act granting consumers a 10-day cooling-off right to cancel a direct agreement.

Section 43 of the CPA gives a consumer the right to cancel a direct agreement at any time within 10 days after receiving the written copy of the agreement. The right is unconditional. A written notice of cancellation is sufficient.

Where the prescribed cancellation rights notice was missing or defective, the cooling-off period can extend up to one year under the broader cancellation provisions.
